Creating art has been at the center of my life for more than a decade. Every photograph begins with an idea and is personally sourced, styled, photographed, and edited by me.

For the entire time I have been creating this art, my “studio” has been a white board. Because I have moved nearly every year of my life since 2007, I have carried it from home to home- placing it outside, on the floor, or in front of whatever window offers enough natural light.

From the outside, it can appear as though these carefully arranged photographs come from a polished, glamorous studio. The reality is much simpler- the work people know was created on a portable white surface, wherever I could find the light and space to make it.

It has always felt surreal to see my photographs travel so widely, most commonly with my name removed, while the physical space behind them has remained this white board. I have also spent significant time documenting and addressing uses of my work that I did not authorize, time I would much rather devote to creating.

Today, the only room I can dedicate to Wright Kitchen is a dark room used to hold books, calendars, supplies, and other finished products. It is storage, not a photography studio. I still create the photographs themselves by moving my white board wherever the light allows.

I have always dreamed of having a bright, window-filled studio where my tools can remain organized in one place, photographs can stay in progress, and there is dedicated space to create art, develop books, store inventory, and prepare orders. More than anything, I dream of giving Wright Kitchen a real creative home.
